Webster's Dictionary defines the word sacrifice to mean, "the act of giving up something that you want to keep especially in order to get or do something else or to help someone." We often throw the word around very leisurely, and some think that to give you their time and energy is a true sacrifice. In many situations, it should be seen as an honor. Giving of yourself is what we are put on this Earth to do. It is a privilege .
Do not get me wrong, some take advantage of that privilege, and frankly will attempt to or will screw you over. It's just human nature. The sucky part, but never the less a part. Pray and learn the users from those who are in dire need. It can be hard to tell the difference. But still we have to appeal to our better angels and help. Also understand the line between sacrifice to help others and self-sacrifice's, that are designed the to put others before yourself constantly. Remember to put on you own mask before you help someone else. Do not let people take advantage of you.
Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you (The Golden Rule) (Luke 6:31 & Matthew 7:12). We all know that this is the difficult part. You know how you want to be treated by people and sometime it works that way and at other times it doesn't. Although initially difficult, eventually understanding the route of forgiveness is better than any negative route your take. Trust me, I know, the thought feels good, but the action can lead to years of unneeded and unwanted self-sacrifice. Do not go the action path.
Instead focus on moving to your BETTER LIFE. Realize that sacrificing for those you love, your principals, or even the overall good are all admirable traits. Again, a reason why we are here. Understand that sometimes the 'Golden Rule" can be exploited by others. Do not let their morals infect you. As Michelle Obama says, "When They go low, we go high". Yes, the high road is always the better road in the long run. it doesn't appear that way, when you are making the sacrifice but it inherently comes together at some point.
Sometimes sacrifices must be made in order to help another. Their are times when ultimate sacrifices are made and the result are saving others. Not all sacrifices have to be this extreme. Observing the golden rule and acting on it will allow much of the goodness you expound to be caught by others. In turn it will create a positive effect that can spread like a wildfire. Do you think Lebron James had to sacrifice? Look at where he is now. Sacrifices can lead to your goal of
